Portable appliance testing and a tag on an electrical lead

Start with the equipment

Make a list of the portable electrical equipment you want to discuss. Include an approximate count, the areas where it is used and any equipment that needs special access. An existing asset register can help organise the conversation.

Describe the working environment

Equipment used in an office may face different conditions from equipment used on a worksite. Explain how the appliances are used and any exposure to damage, moisture or other conditions. The appropriate inspection and testing plan should reflect the equipment and its environment.

Bring previous records

If you have previous testing records, provide them with your enquiry. Useful details include the equipment identification, previous results and any repairs or replacements since the last visit. Discuss the records you need from the planned work before booking.

Coordinate access and timing

Let TSG know about room access, inductions, operating hours and any restrictions on disconnecting equipment. For childcare centres or busy workplaces, explain when equipment can be made available.

Confirm the scope

A testing enquiry is the starting point. Confirm the equipment involved, the work to be carried out, the quote and the timing before arranging a visit. Contact TSG on 1300 874 353 to discuss your site.
